The museum, which was founded in 1982, is housed in the restored North Pier warehouse built in 1905.

Opening hours: Monday-Friday 09:30-16:00; Saturday-Sunday 09:30-17:30. Museum ship: U-505 (1941). A German Type IXC submarine captured by the US CVE Guadalcanal during the WWII.

The museum has an exhibit called "Ships Through the Ages".

Lockport

The museum, which was founded in 1969, is housed in the old canal commissioner's office and residence.
