Entry to the Museum is free of charge.

The Museum is operated by the U.S. Naval Institute. A new Gallery of Ships was opened August 7, 1994, featuring many of the 108 ship models dating from 1650 to 1850 belonging to the Henry Huddleston Rogers Collection.

The Academy itself is a National Historic Shrine, containing a multitude of monuments and relics, including the foremast of the battleship USS Maine and the crypt of John Paul Jones.

The Constellation is the last wooden warship built in the United States. The US Navy used funds appropriated for repair of vessels to completely rebuild the frigate Constellation of the War of 1812 fame originally built in 1797.
