Bannockburn

A four-masted steel ship built in 1886 by Barclay, Curle & Co., Glasgow. Dimensions 87,47×12,92×7,33 meters [287'0"×42'5"×24'1"] and tonnage 2068 GRT and 2000 NRT. Rigged in "jubilee" fashion, i.e. with nothing over double top- and topgallant sails.

Launched at the shipyard of Barclay, Curle & So., Glasgow, for R. Shankland & Co., Greenock.
1894
Re-reigged as a fourmasted barque.
1905
Sold to Akties. Bannockburn (Leif Gundersen), Porsgrund, for £ 5550.
1912
Sold to Gundersen & Gjertsen, Porsgrund.
1915 September
Renamed Leif Gundersen.
1917 March 24
Arrested by the French auxiliary cruiser La Champagne and taken to Glasgow.
1917 May 10
Was declared a French prize and was renamed Atlas of Lorient.
1917 July 17
Sailed under command of Captain Le Squeren from Glasgow in ballast for the West Indies and was never heard of again. An unidentified four-masted barque was sunk by the German submarine U-30 200 miles west of the Fastnet on July 28 1917 and it is generally believed that this barque was the Atlas.
