A four-masted steel barque built in 1893 by Russell & Co., Port Glasgow. Dimensions: 86,25×13,10×7,41 meters [283'0"×43'0"×24'4"] and tonnage: 2397 GRT and 2237 NRT.

Rigged in jubilee fashion i.e. over double top and topgallant sails.

Sailed from Barry Docks to Rio de Janeiro.
1898 October 31
Left Shanghai for Portland, OR, and disappeared en route.
