Arethusa

A fullrigged steel ship built in 1890 by C. Connell & Co., Glasgow. Dimensions: 79,22×11,84×7,09 meters [___'_"×__'_"×__'_"] and tonnage: 1789 GRT. Sister ship to the same owner's Melete (1890), Erato (1890) and Melpomene (1890). Rigged with royal sails over single topgallant and double topsails.

1890 January 16: Launched at the shipyard of C. Connell & Co., Glasgow, for B. Wencke Söhne, Hamburg. Assigned the official German Reg. No. _____ and signal RHSL.
18__ - 18__: In command of Captain G. Heinzel.
1892: Sailed from La Plata to Lizard in 60 days.
1893: Sailed from Tocopilla to Lizard in 86 days.
1894 - 1895: In command of Captain J. Gahde.
