Star of India

A wooden full-rigged ship built in 1861 by Alexander Stephen, Dundee. Dimensions 190'4"×34'2"×22'1" and tonnage 1102 GRT, 1040 NRT and 934 tons under deck.

1861 July: Launched at the shipyard of Alexander Stephen, Dundee, for Joseph Somes. Assigned the official British Reg. No. 43925 and signal TRBH.
1861: Sailed from Dundee to Calcutta under command of Captain H. Morris.
1873 September 23 - January 1: Sailed from London to Lyttleton in 97 days. In the South Atlantic the Isabella Kerr, which was on fire, was assisted with provisions and medical health.
1874 July 31 - November 10: Sailed from London - Wellington in 102 days.
1879: Owner: Merchant Shipping Company, London; Captain H.D. Roe [LR 1879-1888].
c1885: Sold to Captain Michelsen, Sandefjord, Norway.
1892: Was abandoned in mid-Atlantic. The floating wreck was sighted south of the Equator by the barque Criffel on voyage from Cardiff to Tquique.
