Hattie S. Williams

Three-masted wooden schooner built in 1879 by Goss, Sawyer & Packard, Bath, Maine. Dimensions ___'×__×__ and tonnage 898 GRT.

Equipped with a T.W. Hyde's Patent Windlass.

The vessel has Gen. T.W. Hyde's Patent Windlass, with which four men can easily take the heaviest anchor. It works with brake and also with steam from the 12 horse power engine aboard, which is used for pumping, hoisting sails and taking the anchors.

The second largest three-masted schooner built on the Atlantic coast.

1879 May 10
Launched at the shipyard of Goss, Sawyer & Packard, Bath, ME, for Staples & Phillips, Taunton, MA, & William Huston, Providence, RI. The homeport was Taunton, MA. The first master was Captain Herbert A. Dean, Taunton, MA.
1893 April 20
Stranded near Manasquan, NJ, on voyage from Baltimore, MD, to Fall River with a cargo of coal.
