1863-1866: The ship Reigate (1862)
1866-1869: Third mate [?] of the ship Black Prince (1863)
1869-1871: Second mate of the ship Norman Court (1869).
1871-1873: First mate of the ship Norman Court (1869).
1873-1879: Master of the ship Norman Court (1869) when the master, his father, got ill in February.
(1885): First mate of the ship Old Kensington.
