Aspice

A full-rigged steel ship built in 1894 by Mackie & Thomson, Govan (Glasgow), as Yard No. 77. Dimensions: 265'0"×39'1"×23'3" and tonnage: 1909 GRT and 1809 NRT; later measured to: 1898 GRT and 1757 NRT. The forecastle was 29 feet long and the poop 48 feet.

Launched at the shipyard of Mackie & Thomson, Glasgow, for R. J. Swyny, Liverpool. Official British Register No. 102136 and signal WJBM.

Sold to Navigazione General Italiana, Genoa, and was renamed Sant' Erasmo. Used as a sail training ship.

Sold to Theodor & F. Eimbcke, Hamburg, and was renamed Seerose. Assigned the German signal RNHJ. The German measurements were 78,13×11,92×7,12 meters.

Left San Francisco with a cargo of 2500 tons of barley and 600 tons of beans for Malmö, Sweden. She was to be towed by the steamer Edgar H. Vance to the Panama Canal. During a storm the following day, the cargo shifted and the tow parted. The Edgar H. Vance, which also had received damage ahd to return to San Francisco.
1915 May 3
Wrecked on the Talcott Shoal, Santa Rosa Island, while trying to reach Santa Barbara. The wreck is located at 34°01N, 120°14W.
