A steel full-rigged ship built in 1884 by John Reid & Co., Port Glasgow, for a total cost of £ 48.000. Dimensions: 308'9"×43'9"×24'8" and tonnage: 2461 GRT, 2394 NRT and 2282 tons under deck.

The mainyard was 105' long. Rigged with royals over double topgallant and top-sails. The mizzen topgallant saill was single.

Sailed from London to Sydney in 80 days under command of Captain J.M. Stott.
Sailed fron Newcastle, NSW, to San Francisco with a cargo of coal.
Sailed from Tacoma for the British Isles with a cargo of 4000 tons of wheat (58.600 bags).

Sailed from San Francisco to Cardiff in 116 days.
