Genesee
An armed wooden paddle steamer built in 1862 by the Boston Navy Yard, Boston, MA.
Dimensions 207'×35'×12' and 666 tons.
Originally rigged with double topgallant sails and a main skysail. The mizzen and jigger masts were rigged with gaff sails.

- Launched at the shipyard of Boston Navy Yard, Boston, MA, for the US Navy.
- 1867 October 3
- Sold to Purvis & Son.
- 1868
- Sold to Captain William H. Besse, New Bedford, MA, and was renamed Hattie C. Besse. She was converted to a sailing ship and rigged as a four-masted "jackass" barque.
Employed in the passenger trade from the US West Coast to China.
- 1871
- Wrecked 20 miles south of Tatoosh on the Washington coast, while on voyage from San Franciso to Burrards Inlet to fetch a cargo for Shanghai.
