Judging from the fact that the upper gun deck ports are smaller than the lower gun deck ports, it seems that the guns orginally planned for this deck should be of a smaller calibre.
The 24 pound guns cast for the ship in 1627 had a field-gun type of muzzle.
The weight of seventeen Swedish 24 pounder guns of the traditional type cast 1621-1626 varied between 2030 and 2420 kg. These guns were of 24 calibers and the metal at the breach was one caliber thick.
The new shorter and lighter guns cast between 1626 and 1628 were only 17,5 calibers and had a thickness at the breach of ¾ calibers. The weight was 1200-1300 kg.
